The Washington Beer Commission Presents

Ÿ The Workshop at Magnuson Park
Seattle, WA –   The Washington Beer Commission is celebrating its 2nd Annual Belgianfest on Saturday, January 22nd, 2011, at the Workshop at Magnuson Park in Seattle. The event will feature 25 Washington breweries (listed below) showcasing more than 50 unique varieties of Belgian style beer for sampling.

Belgium has a long history of beer making and is arguably one of the most distinguished brewing countries in the world. While there are different theories about what qualifies as a “Belgian” beer, in general the term “Belgian” beer can only be applied to a beer brewed in Belgium. Beers brewed outside Belgium with Belgian yeast and similar recipes are commonly referred to as “Belgian style” beers. The 25 Washington Brewers participating in Belgianfest will challenge themselves to make delicious Belgian style beers using Belgian yeast and adding their own craftsmanship and creativity during the brewing process.

Belgianfest will host two sessions: 12-4pm and 5:30-9:30pm. Admission is $30 advance or $35 at the door and includes a tasting glass and ten 4oz samples. Separate tickets are required for each session. Tickets are available online at and at select ticket outlets. Space is limited and the event sold out in 2010. This is a 21+ only event.

Established in July 2007 the Commission represents all 130+ breweries in Washington State. The Commission’s mission is to ensure that more beer enjoyed in Washington state is made by its own craft brewers, using ingredients from Washington state’s agricultural industry.
