Reuben’s Brews: Colla-BEER-ation with Bale Breaker
Hopheads, have we got some exciting news for you – we’re doing a collaboration with Bale Breaker! It all started last fall, Adam stopped by their taproom in Yakima. He and the Bale Breaker team got to talking and decided the breweries needed to brew something together. They knew that whatever style they chose should showcase the area’s hops. After some discussion, they agreed to an India Pale Lager (IPL), which neither brewery had made before.
This tasty brew started with our house lager yeast strain and a lot of Mosaic hops, which will go well with lager yeast. We also used the experimental hop HBC344, which features berry notes that will work well with the mosaic and lager character. It was dry hopped at a colder temperature than normal with Citra, Azacca and more Mosaic hops. In all, we used more than 4 pounds of hops per barrel.
You can get your first taste at the release party in the taproom on Tuesday, March 22. We’ll have Colla-BEER-ation available on tap and in 22oz bottles. Representatives from Bale Breaker will be here with us and we’ll have some of their beers on tap as well. Then on Thursday, March 24, we’ll head to Yakima for a release party at Bale Breaker!
