I’ve been saying it for years the big boys need to come back to their roots. Imagine the big brewery getting so big the brewery part goes behind the doors the brewer you never see the beers are for the masses and the creativity is gone. Now imagine the brewery opens a small brew pub limits the batch sizes to like 10 barrels, keeps it simple and brews for the original audience once again. New fun innovative brews and the passion is back. I for one am jonesing to visit RedHook BrewLab for that very reason. Yes they opened a year ago but I have been a tad busy. 😉

Redhook Brewlab features 16 taps of rotating small-batch beers, brewed on site by Redhook Head Brewer Nick Crandall, an eight-year brewing veteran who has spent his time at Redhook focused on innovation and new recipe development.Redhook Brewlab is a beer-focused working space. The brewery is a test ground to experiment and create new small-batch beers primarily for the pub, and to develop recipes that will eventually come to life on a wider scale in Washington and beyond. Examples include Bicoastal IPA, and a few others planned for 2018: My Oh My Caramel Macchiato Milk Stout, Mothers of the Sun Raspberry Saison, Peaches for Me IPA brewed with peach and mango, and Tangelic Halo Tangerine IPA.
With the launch of Brewlab, Redhook is also introducing its new Washington Native series, a rotating line-up of house IPAs that will feature ingredients exclusively sourced from the State of Washington. The Washington Native series will be a permanent fixture at Redhook Brewlab. The first release in the series featured ingredients from two of his favorite sources, hops from Roy Farms in Moxee, Wash., and malts from Skagit Valley Malting in Burlington, Wash.

VEROTICA WAS IN THE BREWHOUSE, AND YES THERE WAS GLITTER
We invited Verotica, one of Seattle’s most fabulous Queens, to brew a beer in honor of Seattle Pride, and the result is a glittery, delicious pride party in a pint glass. Highly Verotic (6.0% ABV, 40 IBU) is a shimmery American Pale Ale brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops, Skagit Valley Pilsner and Bru malts, and 100% food-safe GLITTER!
To try Highly Verotic for yourself, join us at Brewlab on Sunday, June 24, after the Seattle Pride Parade where we’ll be partnering with Verotica Events for an all-out Pride celebration!
