Release Party will take place May 16 in historic Oregon City saloon

OREGON CITY, Ore. – Coin Toss Brewing Co., Oregon City’s newest brewery, will release its first two house brews to the public at the historic Trail’s End Saloon, 1320 Main St., on May 16 from 5 to 9 p.m. Black Hohl Cascadian Dark Ale and George’s Honest Ale will make their Oregon City debut in advance of the brewery and taproom’s opening this summer.

“What better place to debut our history-themed creation product than at the Trail’s End Saloon,” said Coin Toss Brewing Co. founder Tim Hohl. “We love the atmosphere, the friendly people and a growing interest in local craft beer.”

Black Hohl CDA, the brewery’s flagship beer, is dark and hoppy with a malty backbone and a touch of roast. Two-row, Crystal, Victory and Chocolate malts are complemented by Columbus, Chinook, Centennial, Cascade and CTZ hops. It comes in at 6.1 % ABV and 65 IBU.

George’s Honest Ale is the first offering in Coin Toss’ Heritage Series, which showcases beers brewed based on historical recipes. It’s an interpretation of a beer brewed by George Washington at Mount Vernon. Sweet molasses plays an integral role in this beer, as do Cluster hops and six-row pale malt. These ingredients closely resemble those used by our Founding Father in the 1700s. George’s Honest Ale is 6% ABV and 25 IBU.

The release party will feature samples and pints of both beers. Food will be available for purchase, and door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening. Oregon City blues favorite Rae Gordon (www.raegordon.com) will perform a special acoustic set. Minors are allowed until 7 p.m.
