Bridegport Brewing Company Forecasts dark rain this winter season
BridgePort’s Newest Seasonal Brew Features a Dark Malt with a Handful of Oregon Hops
PORTLAND, Ore. – Dec. 5, 2012 – BridgePort Brewing Company,Oregon’s oldest craft brewery, will release its newest winter seasonal ale, Dark Rain, on Jan. 1. A perfect beer for cold winter and spring nights, the smooth roasted flavors of Bridgeport’s Dark Rain create the toasty-warm feeling of home.
The new brew is a black ale that features a generous amount of Crystal and Dark Wheat malts, creating its dense color. While you may expect an assault on the senses, this refreshing beer has a mild bitterness that starts with roasted, hoppy aromatic notes and finishes with the dry hop characteristics of Oregon’s largest hop variety, Nugget Hops. Dark Rain will be available in six-packs and 12-packs across the United States.
“Dark Rain is that link between darker, maltier beers and the highly-hopped pale ales that our fans might be more accustomed to,” explains Bridgeport’s brew master, Jeff Edgerton. “While using the bold flavors that come from very dark roasted malts is not new to Bridgeport, this is the first time that we have layered these flavors with five distinct hop varieties – all from the state of Oregon.”
