24th Annual Oregon Brewers Festival

By March 5, 2021No Comments

The 24th Oregon Brewers Festival is upon us and with that there are going to be some mighty tasty beverages to try this year.  I had the chance to try a few of the expected brews at a special preview event.  Note there are going to be over 85 different brews. Of all the brews available you also have many different styles to choose from.  Styles like the light American pale ales which is perfect for hot weather and then Stouts which are dark black and have tons of flavor.  These thick stouts are great for the long coldPacific Northwestwinter months.  Here are some of the special brews that will be available for this Oregon Brewers Festival.   Thank you to Noel Blake – Oregon Brewers Festival Beer Guru for sharing his expertise as we sampled the different styles.  Here is a sampling of what you will see this weekend.

Ninkasi Brewing Co – Helles Belles -Munich Helles
Upright Brewing Co – Offen Weisse – Weizen/Weissbier
Full Sail Brewing Co – Jimvar Bohemian Pilsner – Bohemian Pilsner

If during your time at the OBF it gets too hot and tents are stifling grab a full mug of this very tasty yet thirst quenching Pilsners.
Collaborator – Hopfinium – Strong Lager
Burnside Brewing Co – Gratzer – Specialty Beer

After having a chance of tasting this beer it was obvious fro the start this was going to be something special.  The smoke and wheat flavors are off the charts.  This is a hit and I would highly recommend this beer as a must try for the weekend.
Boneyard Beer – Girl Beer – Fruit Beer
Fort George Brewery – Sunrise Oatmeal Pale Ale – American Pale Ale
Boundary Bay Brewery – Double Dry Hopped Glacier Pale Ale – American Pale Ale
Columbia River Brewing Co – Nyctophobia IPA – Cascadian Dark Ale
A wonderful CDA from a new comer to the OBF this year.  A relative new brewer in the Portland area Columbia Brewing has made a great CDA.
Lagunitas Brewing Co – Lagunitas Little Sumpin’ Wild – Belgian Golden Strong Ale
Prodigal Son Brewery – Bruce/Lee Porter – Robust Porter
Beer Valley Brewing – Jackalope Imperial Pumpkin Porter – Spice/Herb/Vegetable Beer
FiftyFifty Brewing Co – Donner Party Porter – Imperial Porter
Elysian Brewing Co – Idiot Sauvin – American IPA
Dogfish Head Craft Brewery – Black & Red – Imperial Stout

This is a beer that is going to leave you wondering is it a fruit beer, stout or special spice – mint beer.  The mix of dark roast malt, the added fruit and mint make this very tasty but I highly recommend just a taster as this is a thick over powering in flavor brew.  But you need to try it.

This is going to be a great year at the OBF (Portland Waterfront Park) come on down try a few brews and get into the craft beer movement.  Taster glasses are $6.00 and taster tokens are $1.00 each for 4oz pours. If you find a truly awesome brew and want a full mug that will be 4 tokens. Festival entry is free so those driving your imbibing friends there are tons of great food booths and they even have free water and root beer to quench your thirst.  Cheers from the Oregon Brewers Festival.
