DICK’S BREWING COMPANY HOSTS SUCCESSFUL
BEER FOR A CURE EVENT
Local Business Contributes Money for Cancer Research

Centralia, WA September 12, 2011 Cancer survivors in Lewis County have another ally in the fight against cancer.  Dick’s Brewing Company will be donating nearly four thousand dollars towards cancer research this afternoon.

In August, Dick’s Brewing Company hosted a “Beer for a Cure” event for the community which featured a homebrew competition and a silent auction. Donations from area businesses and proceeds from the pints sold during the event helped raise money which will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

“I am so thankful of the businesses who contributed to this fundraiser and to the people who stopped by the event,” said Julie Young, Owner of Dick’s Brewing Company.  “It was a wonderful afternoon of sharing stories and meeting people from around Western Washington; so many people’s lives have been touched by this horrible disease.”

The winning recipe of the homebrew competition, Stout created by Chris Merritt, Olympia, will be brewed by Dick’s Brewing Company and made available on site, later this year.

“We had a mix of home brewers, cancer survivors, Relay for Life participants and people from around Centralia stop by just looking for a fun afternoon,” Ms. Young continued. “I am proud that Dick’s Brewing Company was able to bring so many people together and make this contribution to help fight back against cancer.”
