Ok here it is.
Columbus but we will now call it Big C, since it does fall within the 3 big C’s Columbus, Centennial and Cascade.
Note: BrewDad site is having fun. We know a lot of people are mad and concerned and upset over the name Columbus. With the issues brought about with the mission of discovery way back in 1492 that led to some really bad stuff that happened over 500 years ago. Ok with that said lets see if we can talk beer.
Columbus Hops makes a great dual purpose hops in beer. It brings both a bitterness kick as well as strong aroma.
14%-16% alpha acid
Great for beers such as Pale Ales, India Pale Ales, Stouts, and Imperial. Commonly used for late-boil or dry hopping for herbal, earthy character. The aroma is pleasing and citrus notes may be found in fresh batches.
The oil content within Columbus Hops is moderate, and the essential oils are relatively balanced. It is a moderate yielding plant edging towards the higher side, and is grown widely. This variety produces medium to large compact cones, and the lupulin is on the paler side of yellow.
Beers using the Hops name we can’t say, ColumbusBison Brewing – Organic IPA
Silver City – Indianola Pale Ale
Green Flash – West Coast IPA
Full Sail Brewing – Sun on Spot IPA
Flying Dog – Snake Dog IPA
Great Basin – Hop Head Ale
