Pacific Brewing – Donkey Puncher ESB
Latest Beer Release by Pacific Brewing –
Donkey Puncher ESB:
Get your mind out of the gutter and wrap it around our delicious new Donkey Puncher ESB. Donkey Punchers operated machines called Steam Donkeys, which were used by Tacoma loggers in the 19th and early 20th centuries to move lumber. Google it if you don’t believe us. Taproom open Wed/Thu 4 to 10; Fri/Sat 12 to 10; Sun 12 to 6.
About PB&M – Now, nearly 100 years later, Pacific Brewing is back in Downtown Tacoma. Reformed by a group of local beer enthusiasts with a love of Tacoma and its rich history, PB&M is once again setting its sights on being one of the premier craft breweries in the Northwest.
Our brewery and taproom, located at 610 Pacific Avenue, is a family-friendly establishment serving a variety of Pacific beer styles. Food will not be served, but can be ordered in from one of the many nearby restaurants. Growlers are available to-go and beer will eventually be available at local bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and bottle shops.
Pacific Brewing will craft the beers that YOU want to drink and live up to our 117 year old legacy.
hmmm…I wonder if living “…up to our 117 year old legacy..” includes this offensive, borderline rude naming of their beers. (when you Google the name, their definition is listed long after the “urban” one.) Besides this one they have “Dirty Skoog IPA” – which, while named after the old Skoog Saloon is still slang for a promiscuous woman. So saying “dirty” with “skoog” seems repetitive. Which is now rude AND ignorant. Sad they hide behind history to entertain their inner 13-year old boy. I hope they treat their women better than they portray.
I see your point and just as they said when they posted the PR it was based on a piece of machinery though they do announce beforehand, “To get your mind out of the gutter.” I did try the beer the other day and it was indeed very tasty.
I understand all that and it’s well placed. However, there are so many names to choose from that can reflect well on these guys – too bad they have to pick one that even hints at less than classy. Glad it’s a great beer! (And thanks for posting my comment – you are a class act 🙂 )
Cheers…
